The video below gives what I would call a starting point for the philosophy of missional church. What I love about it is the clarity of the difference between an attractional model of church versus a missional model. However, we have a tendency to swing the pendulum so far that we forget that our gatherings are also meaningful. It is not somehow unbiblical to invite someone to a gathering with the hope that they might see or hear the good news. But we must not also forget that we need to carry this good news with us into a world that is really not very interested in coming to our gatherings.
So I honestly believe that we need a "both/and" approach. Have great gatherings with sound, inspiring biblical training, and live as "sent" people ready to share the good news into a world that desperately needs Jesus.
